At Ethan's school, the 2nd graders participate in the "Invention Convention". Each student is asked to come up with a solution to a problem that they have. Ethan came up with the Clean-O-Meter. Since the boys only get to watch TV and play when their room is clean, and Ethan has trouble knowing if it's clean or not...so, his idea was to have Mom/Dad turn the dial so he knows when his room is clean to play, or when he needs to clean it up first.
There were a lot of really neat inventions there...one that I wanted to share was the "Spittle Saver". A girl in another class had a plexiglass cover (with holes drilled in it for the candles) to go over a cake so that when the candles get blown out - the spittle doesn't get all over the cake.
